save the date
hey! these save the dates I did for friends just dropped into the real world, so I can show you the artwork now 2016, digital
-
rocky outcroppings
its weird, but the more i draw, at speed while riding in the car on the interstate and highways, an almost elemental visual vocabulary emerges… tight squiggles for faraway trees. broken billowy lines for clouds. craggy lines for distant mountains not landscapes, but landshapes…
-
primitive scratches
by the time i get to big sky the drawings slow-ly slow-ly slow-ly become not as awful as when i started try to capture the wisp of chairlifts highlighted against tree-darkness as they zip downhill
-
montana sketches
traveled to montana and idaho and washington last week. sketched in my sketchbook with an ink pen while looking out the car window. tried to capture the grandeur of the landscape as quickly as possible. sometimes the grandeur of the landscape also included cell phone and radio towers.

impasto calculator
more impasto sketching – my favorite calculator – the casio fx-6300g inaccurately portrayed in digital
-
impasto spider-man
more practice with kyle t‘s impasto kit. in his tutorial he recommends using the impasto sparingly, but i went whole hog. spidey is purple because i was painting late last night with flux on and I thought he was red. i like the purple though

viking sketch
