rocky outcroppings
its weird, but the more i draw, at speed while riding in the car on the interstate and highways, an almost elemental visual vocabulary emerges… tight squiggles for faraway trees. broken billowy lines for clouds. craggy lines for distant mountains not landscapes, but landshapes…

montana sketches
traveled to montana and idaho and washington last week. sketched in my sketchbook with an ink pen while looking out the car window. tried to capture the grandeur of the landscape as quickly as possible. sometimes the grandeur of the landscape also included cell phone and radio towers.

more practice with kyle t‘s impasto kit. in his tutorial he recommends using the impasto sparingly, but i went whole hog. spidey is purple because i was painting late last night with flux on and I thought he was red. i like the purple though
